Update your passport records otherwise pay fine
Expatriates will be given a grace period of two months to transfer their data from the old passports to the new ones and for renewing their passports so that they do not have to pay fines (Via Arabtimes)
The fines charged for failing to report to the concerned authorities about the renewal of expatriates’ passports or extension of their validity are to be paid by their Kuwaiti sponsors or companies, reports Al-Anba daily quoting security sources.
They indicated that these fines will be listed in the company’s portfolio and will be imposed on the owners of the company (sponsors) irrespective of whether the permits of the expatriates are under Article 18 (private sector employees), Article 20 (domestic workers) or Article 17 (government sector employees) or any such residence articles of the country. Acting Director General of Residency Visa Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Talal Marafie affirmed that the government is not ready to back down on the decision to implement appropriate law by enforcing fines on the expatriates violating law that stipulates update of their passports and transfer of residence from old passports to new passports.
Kuwait stops dependent visas for parents of expats
Major General Marafie urged concerned expatriates to update their data in the appropriate office to avoid the pitfall of violations. He stressed that government will not handle the issue with kid’s gloves, since the proceeds will go into the national treasury. He explained the implementation of law number 121/1959 that stipulates quick update of data by expatriates is the only way to avoid violating Article 24 of the law.
The law stipulates a maximum of three months jail term with a minimum fine of KD 300 and maximum fine of KD600, he added. He affirmed that the ministry has yet to apply any new law, noting it only activated the automation system between various concerned authorities and the Interior Ministry. He reiterated the automation system will automatically discover the violation and disrupt the transactions of the violator, and prevent him from traveling until the fine is paid.

How much the fines?if I renew my passport 1month before the expiration date should i still pay the fines??

I appeal to the government please review on this law. This is absolutely against the rights of human being. Most of not able to pay hundreds of kd fine. Allah is every where.

Absolutely injustice. I doesn't make sense we pay on passport with valid residency. Why residency period is more than expiry of passport. Why why why. Why they have stamped residency upto 2016 if passport is getting expire before it . passport is our national document. Our government should fine but not any other. Today I have paid fine kd 352 on the passport of my wife with valid Aqama. Strange and funny thing I paid fine of my child who was on the same passport. It mean I have paid not on the expiry of my passport but on expiry of residence. Even residency was valid. Really it has made me so upset I paid for what? I spoke to officer this is not justice and this law is just against the human rights. I gave them.saving of my whole year before my departure. Allah will do justice and I hope He will guide the person who did Implementation of this rule. International media is sleeping.

The above mentioned comments from Arab Times are not correct/not confirm because individuals are paying fines by themselves. please advise…….
Hi,pls.i dont have time to read all msg,but my inquery my e passport expired 2016 jan,do i needed to renew now? And were place to update passport,

You must renew your passport 6 months b4 the expirey date to avoid 6kd penalty

Hey guys….just read and understand carefully wat was written here….WE as domestic helper is not responsible 4 any fines if we cannot renew or transfer iur passport to a new one…it will be charges to our Kuwaiti Employer…so dont complain and complain…..der lost if we failed to follow thier laws coz der holding our passport dat well in fact its illegal ryt….?

What about my passport sir.I renew my passport on August 9.because when I take vacation.at the time.I authorise to pay about penalty? Because my passport give the stamp for extension.and already presses my passport from the Philippines to forward here at philippines embassy.
Gamaal E-Shafey Ismail… This is necessary to cut down on those who come here to work yet don't like their employment and abscond… Once absconding they can't renew their paperwork and live in hiding on the streets… Some ( not all) will turn to criminal means ( robbery, alcohol and drug dealing, prostitution etc…) as a means for their survival which is dangerous for all of us… Updated documents are necessary for proving each expats legitimate stay in this country… For those who don't like this… They should consider going elsewhere… If money wasn't better than many expats homelands they wouldn't be here away from their loved ones…. Just saying for real….
We know the immigrations wants to update their data but they must be an awareness driver through different channels, tv, advertisement, flyers like how the UAE governement educates people through different channels and different medium of communication as expatriates give more than 100% towards the growth of Kuwait by working long hours, stress and many more. Expatriates get salary but they do give more than what they earn to the country.
What happens when an error has been done at the immigration office, though the form is correct and the official at the immigration doesn't upload the new passport information on the system, expat stopped at the airport while travelling, though he travelled couple of times on the same residence and page. Here who pays the penalty?
Renew it before u leave and make update to the new passport so no worries
