A recent meeting of the Environment Public Authority (EPA), Environment Police, and Kuwait Municipality agreed on forming a tripartite committee authorized by the judicial police to follow up violations committed on the beaches, public parks and camps.
Informed sources said the committee will launch campaigns targeting beaches, parks and campsites to deal with serious violations such as filth and indiscriminate dumping of refuse and barbecuing that attract fines ranging from KD 5,000 to KD 10,000, while burning coal to smoke shisha attracts KD 50 fine.
As regards smoking in public places, the source pointed out that the judicial police have since issued violations against 30 individuals at different official institutes. He reiterated environment law bans smoking in public places, commercial complexes and official bodies.
