‘Complaints’ tied to barbecue ban in public gardens

November 2, 20170 Comments

Director-General of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Faisal Al-Hasawi explained that the decision to ban barbecuing in public gardens is in response to the complaints of residents in various housing areas, reports Al-Rai daily.

In his interview with the daily, Al-Hasawi said the PAAAFR had earlier announced that it is allowed to barbecue in big gardens, pointing out there are 143 public gardens in different parts of the country and these are open to all citizens and expatriates without paying any fees.

He added the removal of fences in public gardens is aimed at making them similar to those found in European countries. On the request of Farwaniya’s governor to relocate the zoo in Omariya, Al-Hasawi affirmed the current location is suitable so the relocation is not necessary.

He was quick to add though that there is a plan to transfer the wild animals in the future and Omariya Zoo will be transformed into a bird sanctuary.
