The daily quoting a source added the proposed increase to residency fees and traffic fines, which was expected to be referred to the parliament in the current term, has since been postponed to the next parliamentary term.

Security and legal sources noted the committee for legal affairs completed its study on the proposed increase of residency fees and referred its report to the Cabinet. However, proposal to increase the value of traffic violations is still with the committee due to some obstacles watered down in coordination with the new Transport Affairs Authority to prevent overlapping and contradictory measures.

Sources added the Cabinet requested Fatwa and Legislation Department to postpone the bill until the next parliamentary term with the aim of presenting both proposals together, instead of individual. They indicated the decision was taken partly because one of the proposals was late.
