Now accreditation of certificates must for residence stamping

Thousands of engineers working in the private sector are caught in the midst of confusion because of the confusing decisions issued by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), reports Al-Qabas daily.

Despite the fact that PAM officials have stated more than once that there is no need to re-apply for accreditation of the Kuwait Engineers Society (KES) to their certificates in case it was accredited before, however still have to apply for accreditation.

The Al-Qabas sources reported that the suffering of the expatriate engineers in the country is not related to the KES. The request for issuing a certificate to the concerned people came after a direct request from the PAM or through the automated system which was announced in advance.

The sources said PAM has already stated that the automated link on the accreditation of engineers has ended, and that the issuance of the certificate is only one time and need not be issued every year, but the system currently is in conflict with those statements, and the ‘engineer’s certificate has to be issued a second and third time at the time of the renewal of the work permit, at the request of the concerned people.

President of the KES Faysal Al-Attal said: “We do not ask for this certificate, but we offer it to those who request it, even if they request it every month. On the issue of retesting new engineers particularly the Syrians, Libyans and Yemenis, Al-Attal stressed that “whoever has answered the test and passed need not do it again.”

Those who did not answer the test were given a test to correct the situation, regardless of the nationality. For those who received a bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from any university other than their own country must provide proof of residence in that particular country during the study period.

They must also submit the certificate to the concerned authority in the country in addition to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and the disclosure of grades, all documented by the Foreign Ministry of Kuwait, and with tests conducted in cooperation with Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.

The Egyptian universities with regard to engineers with certificates issued by Egyptian universities, Al-Attal said that the Engineering Education Committee of the Arab Engineers Union is doing its best. The Supreme Council of the Arab Engineers Union has adopted the strategy of the committee for the next two years and received support from all the Arab unions.
