Labor rights in Kuwait

Migrant workers’ labor rights booklet launched.

“Ignorantia legis non excusat”, a famous Latin maxim which means  ignorance of the law excuses no one. As a foreign worker in Kuwait, I believe that it is imperative to know my rights under the Labor Laws of this country.

Relative thereto, there are two organizations who are collaborating with each other to promote and protect workers’ rights, namely, the Kuwait Trade Union Federation ( KTUF ) chaired by Mr. Salem Al-Ajmi and Solidarity Center headed by Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Turki, launched a booklet on May 22, 2017 at KTUF’s office in Maidan, Hawally, Kuwait entitled “ Your Rights at Work: A Guide for Migrant Workers in Kuwait“ in four different languages, particularly, in English, Arabic, Hindi and Nepali. It is succinctly written in a comprehensible manner for a clearer understanding by the workers of their rights. The aforementioned leaders handed copies of the said booklets to the attendees for public distribution.

KTUF and Solidarity Center are both committed to educate the workers about their rights and obligations as working expatriates in Kuwait.

For further information, you may contact KTUF at the address and telephone numbers indicated at the bottom of the said booklet together with other helpful contact information such embassies and other government offices.

“It is succinctly written in a comprehensible manner.”

That’s more than can be said for the article.
