VIEWNEW COUNCIL MEMBERS APPOINTED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRICKET IN KUWAIT

Kuwait Cricket (KC), the apex body of controlling cricket in Kuwait is under the auspicious of Kuwait Olympic Committee and has been an associate member of International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2005 and a full member of Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Kuwait Cricket was formed in 1996 and accordingly became an affiliate member of the ICC in the year 1998.

Kuwait participated in the ACC Trophy for the first time in 2000 and later pulled off a series of upsets to finish at a promising third place in the event, only just missing out on qualification for the 2005 ICC Trophy. Kuwait Cricket has hosted eleven International tournaments including the World Cricket League Division 8 which Kuwait won in 2010 and later on won the WCL Division Seven in Botswana in May 2011.

Kuwait cricket (KC) under the leadership of Sheikh Dari Fahed Al Ahmad Al Sabah will now have the honor of hosting the U-19 premier Asia cup starting from the 5th of November with Kuwait taking on Afghanistan at Sulaibiya cricket ground until the 15th of November 2014 when the newest Asian rivalry between Nepal and Afghanistan will come into play at TACK entertainment city cricket ground – Doha.

The U-19 premier Asia Cup is a round robin league where 6 Asian giants will be seen competing against each other with back to back 50 over’s matches at the picturesque grounds of Sulaibiya and TACK entertainment city. The 6 nations are Afghanistan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Afghanistan and Nepal are the favorites to lift the trophy and the rewards are infinite as the winner of the u-19 premier cup will qualify for the u-19 world cup scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in the year 2016.

The hosting of U-19 premier Asia cup will also see the leading bodies of domestic cricket in Kuwait coming together and joining hands with the official body KC to ensure that the event is highly successful and one to be remembered by all the participating teams and other stakeholders. Mr. Asad Baig has been nominated as the tournament director by ACC and Mr. Sajid Ashraf has been nominated as the Event Manger / Director of Operations by the Secretary General of Kuwait Cricket, Mr. Haider Farman.

Taking giant leaps to ensure the successful development of domestic cricket in Kuwait, the secretary general of Kuwait cricket, Mr. Haider Farman, under the leadership of Sheikh Dari Fahed Al Ahmad Al Sabah has officially announced to recruit 5 new members to their respective council which is bound to bring all the working hands for cricket in Kuwait together and work towards one cause which is the progress of Kuwait National Cricket team at all international levels.led

The new council will therefore have the following members:

Mr. Sudhkar Shetty (Director – Technical)

Kuwait Cricket looks forward to welcoming all cricketers, families and children to watch a thrilling competition of u-19 premier Asia cup which is bound to take cricket in Kuwait to the highest level of recognition and success.
