Jail and deportation for expats in forging

November 9, 20170 Comments

The Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the First Instance Court which acquitted three expatriates and sentenced four others to four years in prison followed by deportation for forging Kuwaiti passports sold to Arab nationals who used the forged documents to migrate to Europe and other countries, reports Al-Anba daily.

The summary of the lawsuit includes charges against two of the suspects employed at the Passports and Citizenship Affairs General Department. One of them is in charge of the computer system while the other works as a typist.

They were accused of forging expired Kuwaiti passports which they sold to Arab nationals through a mediator. Attorney Khalid Al-Khalifa, who represented one of the accused in court, argued that results of investigations were inconclusive and the lawsuit file lacked evidence showing his client committed the crime.

He then asked the authorities to look for the real culprit, considering the forgery continued even after the arrest of his client and this proves his client did not commit the crime.
