House Allowance to be cut

At a time when the Ministry of Education was celebrating International Teachers Day, Civil Service Commission decided to reduce the value of accommodation allowance for male and female expatriate teachers from KD 150 to KD 60, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a statement, the commission said the decision was part of government’s plan to streamline expenditure, and the information negates judgment delivered by the Administrative Court in February,

indicating item 2 of the commission’s decision that sets accommodation allowance for female teachers as KD 60 and KD 150 for their male counterparts is unconstitutional.

This was the reason the commission raised the allowance to KD 150.c Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa declared that desirable development is impossible in Kuwait unless education improves.

He also said the ministry sees a brighter future through teachers, as he congratulated teachers across the country and commended their efforts toward building future generations that can face challenges.
