Abdul- Rahman Al-Azmi, Head of the section in Ahmadi Municipality that is in charge of removal of constructional violations, says the municipality, with the cooperation of the concerned authorities, will disconnect power supply to 32 buildings that are in violation of the ministerial decision, which bans bachelors from residing in private residential areas. In a press statement, Al-Azmi revealed that the municipality team inspected 44 homes in Ahmadi Governorate.

Out of them, three real-estate properties were excluded from the decision to disconnect power supply because there were families living there, and nine buildings which were closed. He praised the efforts exerted by the government agencies that are participating in the campaign to ban bachelors from living in private residential areas.

Al-Azmi explained that the campaign was launched by the municipality, with the participation of Ministry of Electricity and Water, Ministry of Interior, and Public Authority for Manpower, with the objective to reduce the repercussions of the spread of COVID- 19, after discovering that some managed to flee the isolated areas (quarantine) to live in private residential areas. He urged landlords to cooperate with municipality’s inspection teams to avoid legal accountability.

Al-Azmi declared that reports or complaints concerning bachelors can be made through municipality’s WhatsApp No. 24727732 so that necessary legal measures can be taken in this regard.
