Movie ‘Maulana’ ban in Kuwait

Chairman and CEO of the International Film Distribution Co Hisham Al- Ghanim said the Egyptian film titled ‘Maulana’ has been banned in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) citing censorship reasons, reports Annahar daily.

Speaking to the daily, Al- Ghanim pointed out the film is about the Sunni and Shiite sects. He added the film is expected to receive the same treatment in Qatar and Oman.

The film discusses the relationship of an influential cleric identified as Sheik Hatem Al- Shenawi with the mass media and politicians.

The film was written by Ibrahim Essa, directed by Majdi Ahmad Ali and the actors are Amro Saad, Riham Hajaj, Bayoomi Fouad and Ahmad Majdi.
