Around 285 held, 45 cars seized

Officers from several sectors of Ministry of Interior participated in a security campaign that was launched in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area based on instructions from the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

A number of individuals were arrested for various reasons, 200 traffic citations were issued, 35 vehicles were seized and the number plates of 45 vehicles were confiscated.

In a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department for Public Relations and Media Security explained that the operation, which was led by Lieutenant General Sulaiman Fahad Al-Fahad, began with the closing of all exits of the area in order to prevent the escape of violators of law. The security campaign was then launched by holding inspections in several locations within the area.

The documents of 3,500 individuals were checked. Officers arrested 185 individuals who did not have their identification documents, 12 who were reported as absconding, 20 who are wanted for enforcing sentences on civil cases, two who are wanted for enforcing sentences on criminal cases, 49 with expired residencies, nine for immoral activities, nine for consuming alcohol and one who was banned from entering the country.

The arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The department affirmed that such security campaigns will continue to be held with the cooperation of all relevant authorities and government offices in order to arrest the violators of law. It urged the people of Kuwait to cooperate with securitymen, avoid providing shelter to wanted individuals and to always carry official identification documents.
