The phenomenon of trading in counterfeit currency has resurfaced, reports Al-Anba daily.
This happened when an Asian expatriate reported to the police that an unidentified motorist filled petrol in his car tank and gave him 20 dinars which turned out to be forged. He said he does not remember the car plate number or the person who paid him the money.
The counterfeit currency has been seized and police are trying to find the suspect with the CCTV footage of the camera installed at the petrol station. The incident happened in the Capital governorate.
In the meantime, the security authorities have called on workers in the commercial markets, fuel stations, grocery stores and others to check the currency to ensure it is not counterfeit.
