AUB Chief Executive Officer visit Kuwait Cricket
Mr. Richard Groves, Chief Executive Officer of Ahli United Bank along with AUB’s General Manager, Retail Banking, Mr. George Beatle paid a courtesy visit at Kuwait Cricket’s Sulaibiya cricket ground on May 30, 2015 to witness the semifinal match played between AUB & Boubyan bank in the ongoing AUB trophy.
During his visit Mr. Richard Groves met Kuwait Cricket’s Director General Mr. Asad Baig, Murali Kutticode, Director, Junior & Corporate Cricket, Mehaboob Khan, Director Women’s Cricket and AUB Captain Mahmoud Bastaki. Mr. Richard was briefed about Kuwait cricket’s history, infrastructure development and community engagement programs. Kuwait has the distinction of being the second country in the Middle East to be an Associate Member of International Cricket Council.
As a Corporate house AUB has been sponsoring Bank league cricket tournament since a very long time and Mr. Asad Baig thanked AUB Management for their continuous support to Kuwait Cricket.
Mr. Richard Groves was glad to know about the increasing popularity of Kuwait Cricket which has the history of hosting 13 International cricket tournaments under the banner of ICC & ACC. Kuwait Cricket, the apex body of cricket in Kuwait, with many clubs registered in the region including Kuwaiti Nationals has been conducting cricket tournaments for all category to the likes of regular cricket for seniors, junior cricket for boys, women’s cricket, Bank league cricket tournaments as well as cricket league for Shipping Companies.
Mr. Groves was highly impressed to know about Kuwait having a cricket team comprising of only Kuwaiti Nationals and their participation in the recently concluded Asian Games in South Korea.
Mr. Richard Groves & George Beatle was introduced to both the teams, Ahli United Bank as well as Boubyan Bank by their respective captains. In the concluding ceremony of the event, Mr. Richard Groves presented the player of the match award to Ibrahim Rifkas of Boubyan Bank.
