The Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mariam Al-Aqeel said the process and linking the residence permit of the expatriate in Kuwait with his educational level and scientific qualifications has resulted in the cancellation of the residency of 20,000 expatriates during the past three years, reports Al-Rai daily.

Meanwhile, she confirmed that in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, 194 of the 500 people staying at the government shelter and had expressed their desire to go ‘home’ have been deported to their respective countries under the supervision of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). In other news she added, Public Authority for Manpower was able to recover money on behalf of the employers who had filed complaints with the Department of the Organization of Domestic Labor Recruitment against recruitment offices and companies.

She added, Kuwait firmly believes in combating trafficking in human beings, smuggling of migrants and labor rights as an essential part of human rights and preserving their dignity. This is in addition to improving the legal, health and living conditions of migrant workers.

Al-Aqeel said the establishment of controls on the number of domestic workers and the increase in fees, with the exception of families with disabilities, has largely contributed to organizing the file of domestic labor.
