Lots of foreigners here posting Ramadan hate. I don't see what the big deal is. Abide by the host nation laws or go the F home – there is someone else willing to do your job and follow the host nation laws.
If I was Kuwaiti, I would be rightfully pissed off at all the foreigners who think they are above the local laws. Just like I would be rightfully pissed off if a Kuwaiti drove on the shoulder of the highway in the USA.
Ya'll need to get over yourselves and just simply respect the laws of the nation where you are working – it really is just that simple. Don't eat or drink in public during the restricted hours… how hard is that?
Yeah, sweet, we liberated Kuwait from Iraq. So what? We liberated France from Germany too, so should we not abide by their laws when we are a visitor in their country? We are visitors in Kuwait and should respect their laws just as we expect visitors to the USA to respect ours. We don't get a pass for having liberated them – that thought process is fundamentally flawed and downright stupid.
If you want to eat food or drink water or whatever then do it inside of your house or in a private place. Just because you are not Muslim or agree with Islam does not mean you should argue with their laws or think their laws are stupid.
How hard is it to just do the right thing? The right thing being to follow the laws and not voice your complaints about them.

I'm neither Christian nor Muslim, but being that I spent almost 10 yrs in Kuwait as a contractor, I've gone through the Ramadan experience. As an American, we were to respect it, but as Rufus Fraga touched on, you have those who are fake and hide to consume food and beverages. I've witnessed it for myself. In the U.S., U.K., parts of Europe, Asia, and parts of the Middle East, most folks of other religions and expatriates aren't made to suffer like they do in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. If one is to fast, then not all should be forced to publicly to refrain from their normal routine. It's up to you as an individual to exercise restraint and discipline based on your religion. I've been a Christian and I have read the Quran and respect it, but I don't claim religion because religion is a form of control by man, not by God. So, if you're truly one to fast as your religion requires, then, it's up to YOU to do what's required.

Abuashraf Quazi most know Ramadan is to allow the rich to appreciate the situation of the poor. Which is why the law is wrong. Do we hide away from poor people when we eat? No we eat openly infront of them everyday. So if you really want to experience life of the poor then others could eat in front of you. People who preach-on about Ramadan neglect to realise that.
Goran Ugrinoski separation of church and state allows for respect and accomodation of all religions. To view otherwise is sadly uneducated. Besides, doing things for God should be a decision you make not a law you abide, otherwise I don't think it is the same in the eyes of God.

The law says, all people should not consume in public. When I follow this law, I don't pretend to be Muslim. I am just simply obeying the law. So do NOT shame anyone for following the law that your country enforces! Only shame people if they decide to make the decision of breaking the law! So please do not shame us! And if you really want to, just put cameras in our apartments to ensure we are not consuming privatly if that's waht you prefer.
