It was an instant connection between two writers and two creative thinkers. Nejoud Al Yagout is one very, very talented women and is a shining light in her field. Not only a poet but also a women of excellence who works tirelessly to promote the arts and other emerging artists. It was my absolute pleasure to be in her presence!

Nejoud Al-Yagout is a Kuwaiti poet and essayist. She is the author of three anthologies of poetry: This is an imprint, Awake in the Game of Pretending and Ounces of Oneness. She also printed a pocket-size book of quotes titled The Waltz of This and That which is not for sale but was published as a gift to readers. In June 2016, an essay of hers was published in Poetry as a Spiritual Practice: Illuminating the Awakened Women, a book consisting of reflective essays and poems from fifty women around the globe. Her articles and poems have been featured in Tikkun, Best Self Magazine, Women’s Spiritual Poetry, The Master Shift, Thought Catalog, Arab Times, The Divan, Kuwait Times, Al Rai and Global Chatter Magazine, and she is also the author of a blog. Al-Yagout is an Honorary Life Member of ALL Ladies League (ALL). She was one of  Bazaar’s Women of the Year in 2014 and is a contributing writer for the magazine, interviewing movers and shakers in Kuwait on a monthly basis. In 2016, she was one of the local authors chosen by Tamdeen Group to partake in an initiative to enhance reading amongst Kuwaiti youth. Al-Yagout is a mentor for unpublished poets and has also judged poetry competitions including: Q8bookstore This is an imprint contest and CEE Kuwait Poetry Competition.

If anyone can share the poetic word in Kuwait; it is Al Yagout. Her work spans across the test of time and she is so eloquent in what she says and her approach in a very delicate part of the world. Al Yagout is a women of substance and enrichment. All who come into her presence are truly blessed as she has the ability to solicit the best in them and provide the platform for them to be successful.

No stranger to success herself, Al Yagout has had many successful publications and speaking engagements. “I have recently been in Azerbaijan” said Al Yagout. “It was beautiful and really enlightening to be there.” Nejoud continues her work that spans across the globe and brings such a beautiful touch to Kuwait and the cultural side of Kuwait. She is a pioneer in her field and distinguished women of her words.

When I had the ability to meet with Al Yagout, the calmness that her character brings is refreshing. “I have lived in various places around the world” explains Al Yagout “I see the world differently” she continues to add which is felt in her poetry. All of this energy that Al Yagout shares brigs her audience to love and appreciate her work in Kuwait and internationally as well.

Her books are available on Amazon, FriesenPress, iBooks, Barnes and Noble and most online retailers. Locally, you can find her books at Dar Nur, Q8 Bookstore (Dar Yarmouk), Jarir Bookstore and CAP Gallery. She is also on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Goodreads.
