Kuwait Weather: Rain, Fog and Humidity Expected This Weekend

If you’re planning anything outdoors this weekend, keep an eye on the sky – and maybe pack an umbrella along with your sunglasses.

Kuwait’s Meteorological Department says the next few days will bring a mix of heat, humidity, scattered rain and patches of fog, especially along the coast. It’s not a wash-out, but conditions will shift enough that your morning commute or Friday picnic plans might need a backup.

⚡ The short version
  • Hot and humid days, mild to warm nights, through Thursday to Saturday.
  • Scattered light rain is likely, occasionally turning into thunderstorms.
  • Fog may reduce visibility in some areas, mainly in the evenings and early mornings.
  • Sea conditions will get rougher by Friday and Saturday, with waves up to 6 feet at times.

What’s driving this weather

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told KUNA that weather maps and numerical models show Kuwait is being affected by an extension of a low-pressure system combined with an upper-level low. Together, these are expected to increase low and medium-level cloud cover and bring scattered light rain, sometimes with thunder.

Winds will mostly be light to moderate from the southeast, occasionally picking up, which is also why visibility could drop in foggy patches.

Day by day

Thursday: Hot, partly cloudy and humid, especially along the coast. Winds light to moderate, shifting from variable to southeasterly at 8 to 30 km/h, with a chance of scattered light rain. Daytime highs of 40 to 42°C. Sea waves of 1 to 3 feet. At night, expect warm to mild and humid conditions, with temperatures between 26 and 28°C and waves up to 4 feet.

Friday: Still hot and humid, with winds from the south to southeast at 10 to 40 km/h and a chance of scattered rain. Highs of 41 to 43°C. At night, fog is possible in some areas along with scattered rain, and sea waves could reach 2 to 6 feet and occasionally turn rough.

Saturday: A touch cooler, with highs of 38 to 40°C, but still hot, humid and partly cloudy. Scattered rain is possible and may come with thunderstorms. Winds from the southeast to variable directions at 8 to 40 km/h. Sea waves of 2 to 6 feet, occasionally rough. Saturday night turns warm to mild, with fog possible and lows of 23 to 25°C.

What this means for your weekend

If you’re driving early morning or late evening, especially near the coast or on the highways out of the city, go slow where fog is reported. Visibility can drop fast in these conditions, and it often catches drivers off guard around Fintas, the Gulf Road stretch, or the airport road.

Anyone heading out on the water – fishing trips, boat outings, diving – should pay attention to the sea forecast. Waves of 2 to 6 feet with occasional rough patches on Friday and Saturday aren’t ideal for smaller boats.

If you’ve got outdoor plans – a barbecue, a trip to Al Shaheed Park’s new phase, or just a walk along the Corniche – it’s worth having an indoor backup in case the rain turns thundery.

Quick answers

Will the rain last all weekend?

The Meteorological Department describes it as scattered light rain, meaning it won’t fall everywhere or constantly. Some areas may see thunderstorms at times, but it’s not expected to be continuous heavy rain.

Why is it still so hot if it’s raining?

Kuwait’s early October weather often carries over summer heat even with cloud cover and rain. Daytime highs in the 38 to 43°C range are still expected this weekend alongside the humidity and rain chances.

Keep a light jacket or umbrella handy this weekend, and if you’re driving at night, ease off the accelerator where the fog rolls in. Has the weather already thrown off your plans this week? Let us know in the comments.
