Dubai is about to let people walk on real gold.

Dubai Gold District says it will open the worldโ€™s first and longest 24-carat gold walkway before the end of 2026, within the next two months. For anyone in Kuwait who enjoys a quick Dubai trip or follows gold prices closely, this is the kind of attraction that could reshape a weekend itinerary, right alongside some of the regionโ€™s most striking airport terminals that already pull in Gulf travellers.

So what exactly is this gold walkway?

Rashid Al Harmoodi, Senior Director of Commercial at Dubai Gold District, told Emarat Al Youm that the walkway will let tourists and residents physically walk along a golden path inside the district. He said the project would be the first of its kind anywhere, and the longest, made entirely from 24-carat gold.

Details on exact length, cost, ticket prices or the precise opening date have not been confirmed yet. What we do know is that itโ€™s expected to open within roughly two months of the October 25 announcement, so sometime before the end of 2026.

The walkway is part of a bigger push. Dubai Gold District is also planning a new exhibition space it hopes will become the largest gold and jewellery trading exhibition in the Middle East. Together, these moves are meant to make the district not just a trading hub but a genuine tourist destination in its own right.

Why is the district growing so fast?

Al Harmoodi shared some numbers that show just how quickly this area is expanding. Since the start of 2026, the number of wholesale gold trading offices operating in the district has grown by 20%. Shops selling gold, jewellery, precious stones and luxury watches have grown by 15% in the same period.

Construction work is still ongoing to make room for more businesses. Al Harmoodi expects companies relocating into the district to grow by another 10% to 20% next year, as new office and retail space becomes available.

For context, this kind of rapid build-out in Dubai isnโ€™t unusual. The emirate has recently made headlines for infrastructure upgrades too, including a signal replacing a roundabout that cut travel time by half in one busy area, part of a broader pattern of the city reshaping itself to handle growing visitor and business numbers.

Record-breaking earrings: whatโ€™s the story?

The gold walkway announcement coincided with something else: Dubai picking up two Guinness World Records for a pair of gold earrings.

Created by Joyalukkas Jewellery, the earrings weigh 16.514 kilograms and are made from 22-carat gold. Theyโ€™re designed as jhumkas, a traditional hanging earring style. The pair is named Mayura Sahasra, meaning
