The administration of the Central Prison foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs into the prison by using a small drone.
In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media General Department in the Interior Ministry said officers on duty noticed the drone hovering over the prison premises and they managed to control it.
The drone had an envelope with three plastic bags containing substances believed to be drugs. The contraband was sent to the competent authorities to lift fingerprints and investigations are continuing to identify the culprits.
Meanwhile, some inmates in the Central Prison celebrated Eid Al-Adha in their own way, but it was not joyful for them in the end as they caused chaos and disobeyed orders of security authorities, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Special Forces intervened and 13 of the inmates were sent to the heavily guarded prison cell. The intervention led to the discovery of many batons, sticks, knives, blades, mobile phones, chargers and sim cards smuggled into the prison despite the tight security and thorough inspection procedures at the gates.
