Drinking water in schools unsuitable

The Environment Public Authority (EPA) has informed the Ministry of Education that drinking water from water coolers in 13 schools is unsuitable, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a letter sent by the EPA to the ministry inspectors during random testing of the water, found the water filters dirty and there was also lack of maintenance and the ministry is expected to notify the concerned authorities. The EPA has stressed on the need to monitor all such outlets in all schools to ensure the students don’t consume anything that is unsuitable particularly ensure the safety of drinking water.

The letter has specifically singled out the importance of providing the EPA with periodic environment report at least every six months before the beginning of the scholastic year and midway. The Education Ministry has circulated copies of the EPA letter to all public schools in all educational directorates.

Meanwhile, two Kuwaitis sustained various degrees of injuries during a fight in Riqqa area. A rescue team was dispatched to the scene when the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry was notified about the episode.

A group of passersby had already taken the duo to Adan Hospital for treatment before the team arrived at the scene. Initial investigation revealed the fight was due to former dispute. And, a Bangladeshi man working as a sales man in a clothing shop filed a complaint against an Egyptian colleague who allegedly assaulted him.
