Article 75: Educational Leave

In force

In simple words

Your employer may give you paid study leave to get a higher qualification related to your job. Afterwards you must work for the employer for the same length of time (up to 5 years); if you leave early, you must repay part of the salary you received, in proportion.

Example

Leaving after paid study leave

Situation

Lina (KD 600 a month) gets 1 year of paid study leave for a master’s degree, then resigns 6 months after returning.

What the law says

She had to work 1 year after the leave. With 6 months (half) remaining, she must repay half the salary she received: 12 × 600 = 7,200 ÷ 2 = KD 3,600.

Names are made up for illustration.
