Article 29: Language of Contracts

In force

In simple words

All work contracts and official company letters must be in Arabic. A translation can be added, but if the two versions are different, the Arabic version wins.

Example

English contract vs Arabic contract

Situation

Sunil’s English offer letter says 30 days’ leave, but the Arabic contract filed with the Public Authority for Manpower says something different.

What the law says

Contracts must be in Arabic, and if the Arabic and translated versions differ, the Arabic text wins. Always ask for a translation of the Arabic contract before signing.

Names are made up for illustration.
