Get thr Credit Card Fully Online in Kuwait

If you’ve ever put off applying for a credit card because it meant taking time off work, printing documents and sitting in a queue at the branch, that excuse is gone if you bank with NBK.

National Bank of Kuwait has rolled out what it calls the first fully digital journey for getting a credit card in Kuwait. The whole thing, from filling out the form to signing the final paperwork, now happens inside the app.

No branch, no paper, no waiting around for someone to call your number.

    The short version

    • NBK customers can now apply for a credit card entirely through the mobile app, including document upload, credit checks and e-signature.
    • A new Multi-Beneficiary Transfers feature lets you send money to up to 10 people in a single transaction.
    • Official certificates and statements can now be requested digitally, with a QR code for verification instead of a branch stamp.
    • All of this is part of NBK’s wider push to move everyday banking out of branches and onto phones.

    Who does this apply to?

This is for existing NBK customers using the NBK Mobile Banking App who want a new credit card, or possibly an additional one. The bank hasn’t said whether completely new-to-bank customers can use this digital route, so if you don’t already have an NBK account, it’s worth checking with the bank directly before assuming you can apply this way.

If you’re weighing up a credit card against other borrowing options, it’s worth reading up on how personal loans work in Kuwait first, since the rules and costs are different.

How to apply for a credit card through the app

Based on what NBK has described, here’s roughly what the process looks like:

    1. Open the NBK Mobile Banking App and go to the credit card application section.
    2. Fill out the application form directly in the app.
    3. Upload the documents the bank asks for, rather than bringing paper copies.
    4. Let the app run the credit check in the background.
    5. Review the credit card options you’re eligible for and pick the one you want.
    6. Go through the final review of your application.
    7. Sign electronically to complete the process.

NBK says this is designed to be one of the fastest ways to get a credit card in Kuwait, since it cuts out manual branch processing at every stage. The bank hasn’t published exact turnaround times, so don’t assume your card will land the same day, but the steps themselves no longer require a branch visit.

What about the other new features?

Two more changes came with this update, and they’re both worth knowing about even if you’re not after a credit card right now.

The Multi-Beneficiary Transfers feature means if you regularly send money to several people, family, flatmates, whoever, you can now select up to 10 recipients, enter the amounts for each, review the total, authenticate once, and send it all in one go instead of repeating the transfer process ten times.

NBK has also widened its digital certificate service. You can now request official certificates and statements through the app instead of visiting a branch. These documents come with a QR code and a verified signature that you can check using an in-app QR reader, and a copy is also emailed to your registered address automatically.
