Article 49: Contract Expiration Due to Death or Disability

In force

In simple words

A work contract ends automatically if the worker dies, becomes unable to work, or has an illness that uses up all of his sick leave, confirmed by an official medical certificate.

Example

Worker passes away

Situation

Sunil dies after 6 years of service. His salary was KD 420.

What the law says

The contract ends and his family receives his full indemnity (Article 52) and other dues.
Daily wage = 420 ÷ 26 = 16.154 KD. First 5 years: 75 days × 16.154 = 1,211.54 KD. Year 6: one month = 420 KD.
Total = 1,631.54 KD, plus any unused leave.

Names are made up for illustration.
