Article 22: Employment of Women at Night

In force

In simple words

Women cannot be made to work between 10 pm and 7 am, except in hospitals and other health institutions. Even then, the employer must make sure they are safe and provide transport to and from work. This rule does not apply to official working hours in Ramadan.

Example

A nurse working night shifts

Situation

Grace works as a nurse in a private hospital from 8 pm to 6 am.

What the law says

This is allowed: hospitals and health institutions are an exception to the 10 pm–7 am ban. A shop, however, could not make a female cashier work at midnight, and in any allowed case the employer must ensure her security and provide transport.

Names are made up for illustration.
