The e-crimes department of the Criminal Investigation Department has warned that gangs of Arab youths are targeting young Kuwaitis and citizens of other Gulf States to blackmail them with the intention of extracting money from them, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The daily added, the department has so far received 30 complaints of this nature. The ploy is to incite them to practice immoral acts and take their pictures and then threaten to post them on social networking websites.
The department on its official website Instagram said some of the gang leaders are young Arab women who lure their male counterparts to open the camera on their cell phones or computer and then record the entire proceedings. The department said in spite of efforts exerted through awareness campaigns some youths fall prey to unknown persons and practice immoral acts and such cases are on the rise.
