A total of 141,458 people (Kuwaitis and expatriates) were barred from travel during the first nine months of 2017 according to the Statistics and Research Department of the Ministry of Justice.

In the same context, the Ministry of Justice has requested the Kuwaitis and expatriates to check the department website if they carry a travel ban issued against them by the Sentences Enforcement Department.

The sources pointed out the ministry offices at the exit ports are authorized to lift the travel ban in case if the person was banned from travel for failing to pay money. The sources denied people are banned from travel for failing to pay small amounts of money unlike before.

The sources pointed out one of the main reasons for the current travel ban is failure to pay the telephones and electronics bills and alimonies, as well as failure to pay loans installments, not to mention the judicial rulings.
