The Cybercrime Department of General Department for Criminal Investigations affiliated to Ministry of Interior has succeeded in closing hundreds of fake and ghost accounts widespread on social media especially “Twitter”, as they were being exploited by some to spread lies and fake news, and attack national unity, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
Subsequent to pervasive social media campaigns of calumny against Kuwait by some individuals from various countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its commitment to monitor individuals offending or dragging the country’s name through the mud, reports Al-Qabas daily.
A citizen, suspected of spreading rumors and misinformation on social media, was arrested by the police, said the Interior Ministry Tuesday.
