  1. Maloy Nandi I have personally conducted a few events with ICS & Mr. Ashfaque, 100% veteran. However, I hope and pray that they never face the last minute authorities complication that this event organizers did. How well anyone else could have handled is only a speculation, we haven't seen it. However, this event crisis will be a learning of precautions for all the organizers in Kuwait. point 1. noted and considered.
point 2. same question, do you cramp up and push when you are the immigration office, inspite of not having information, if yes… i rest it here.
point 3. Facts are very important, Yes they did but still faced complications.
point 4. you may know or believe what you deem fit.
point 5. regardless of the profile, criticizing is one's right but for something that isn't completely or entirely organizer's fault & control, unfair.
point 6. this was the first thing the organizer did, to apologize for the delay and inconvenience, were you at the same show?
point 7. your belief is wrong. This organizer had nothing to do with Arijit's show.
    Good things –
    a. people standing weren't able to produce their passes.
    b. you are the first person that has a problem with the sound of this event. However, noted and respected. will try and improve.
    c. same as b. you knew you were coming in a tent for this event.
    d. well… i'd want to know which event do you normally go for where you choose to be at the back and not face visibility issue's. hope you saw the screens. However, your personal choice.
    e. so???? maybe you can get the required permission to conduct events in open stadiums
    f. can't agree anymore.

I totally agree for you to create the awareness, that is your right and choice. I only suggest while at it, do request those few audience also to be more civilized at such events.

Wish you all the best .. Do send me the numbers of the ladies & children if you may have, I will ensure the organizer's apologize to them.

  2. Amit Malhotra

Very lame excuse, with no facts, we consider that this was rude reply.
We are used to watch shows organized by ICS (by Mr. Ashfaq Khan), you should have taken expert advices from them.
Let me give an objective reply to some of the key pints raised by you –
    1) You agree that the organizers did not inform the audience about the delay, please note that this is not a Crisis Management, this is called proper management.
    2) The reason why the audience cramped in front of the gate – you answered it yourself, the organizers did not convey the delay to audience!
    3) Authorities wanted to stop the show – did the organizers not take prior approval? Or you still believe that this was not included in the checklist of Regular Management, this was part of Crisis Management?
    4) Explanation by Sonu Nigam – No comments, we all know why he told this.
    5) Oh, you believe that the organizers are well established, so they would be spared from criticism? Have you checked the profile of the people who are complaining, its as good as that of the organizers (better in many instances).
    6) Did the organizers went up to the stage and regretted for the inconvenience caused to people.
    7) I think that the same organization was responsible to host Arijit Singh show, there was a similar chaos, so this is not the first time we have experienced the mismanagement.
    Good things –
When you have so many serious negative complaints, good things do not count easily, anyway let me list a few –
    a) Seating Arrangement – many people were standing even with valid tickets, can take this as good management.
    b) Sound – was clear, but too loud, considering the size and material of the construction, we can not tell this an example of good acoustics. Please note that Arijit Singh show had excellent acoustics.
    c) Light – good attempt, but not suitable for the tent, again I draw a comparison with Arijit Singh show which had excellent lighting.
    d) The room – too narrow, not good for people sitting at back, and a large number of people standing in front of you.
    e) The seating – All seats were at same level, except the back benches.
    f) Sonu Nigam – excellent songs and excellent voice he is the saviour.

Anyways, what ever justification you make, its a fact that the show was classic example of mismanagement by organizers, and we want to raise the awareness of people in the forum so that they do carry out a proper risk review before attending any future show to be organized by these organizers.

  3. Was there any part of the event that you liked… did you not notice the production setup and the other good parts of the event . No word on that??

  4. Maloy Nandi & Rest of unsatisfied friends that visited this event . The fact is that there are not many organizers in Kuwait that go through the pain and trouble of organizing big events for Indians in Kuwait. The few that do, go through every possible bit to ensure that the audience enjoys the event. No Organizers wishes to tamper his reputation, but end of the day, in such big event unexpected happens and that's what happened this time.. the organizers focused more on fighting the unexpected hurdle at the point of time. At the same time, the public should also have a sense of belongingness & discipline. The organizers were very well prepared for a proper crowd management but not crisis management (as crisis wasn't expected). The organizer's were scheduled to open the gates and welcome the audience 4pm onwards but there weren't allowed to open it until 7.30pm (Yes, they should have communicated this to the public, which they didn't). Why is that only 300 out of 3000 audience faced the hassle? I was at the show, there was no need for these 300 people to cluster at the gate or door. A civilized que could have been formed, the open garden area, beach area, food stalls, free beverages could have been utilized while the organizers were working on clearing out the uncertainty or delay. Why families with kids & women had to cramp themselves at the gate, there was ample space for everyone to either spread out or form up a que. Stampede is caused when the area is small & people are more, that wasn't the case here. Stampede is very common at events (please do check history of some of worlds best events). I heard the organizers shouting at top of their lungs, "please form a que" but we chose to just keep pushing forward to the doors. Do we do this, when we have a long wait at the immigration, or if there is a flight delay. A security of 40 or 50 people cannot handle 300-400 people that don't chose to listen. In that chaos instances happen and security just gets little aggressive as the people are also aggressive. Yes, the staff should have been courteous and helpful. Even the organizers understand that no matter what, audience should always be treated well (which is well noted). However, at that point, the organizers had only 2 choices, to either cancel the event for reasons beyond their control (we all know this is Kuwait and such high profile events can be a cause of concern for authorities) or to somehow make the show happen so that the biggest singer of India "Sonu Nigam" doesn't go back without a show, which would be a huge embarrassment for all Indians here. Having said that, Sonu Nigam himself explained that the delay and chaos were beyond organizers control, but the organizers still felt bad about the hassle that some had to face and they are now prepared for crisis management also henceforth. Cancellation of kids performance wasn't organizers choice, it was because the authorities had stopped it. Authorities wanted to stop the show as well but the organizers were only fighting till the last minute to somehow make it happen. I will request a little compassion towards organizers and positive criticism so that they improve, make better & better arrangements and continue to provide some cultural entertainment for all of us. We may think that the organizers does all this to make money but that's inaccurate fact. The fact is that these event organizers are very well established in their career's and don't need to this to make money (if any doubts, check on their profile & history and you will be amazed). It is done only for passionate reasons. However, the organizers regret all inconveniences faced and will take even the unexpected into consideration henceforth and prepare accordingly. Still we all are free to share our dissatisfaction & grievances, the organizers will only learn from it.
