Service tax on remittances to India
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will have to pay slightly more to remit money to India as the government of India has imposed a service tax on “fees or commission” levied by banks and financial institutions for facilitating remittances from abroad.
The move will not pose a big burden for expatriates as a 12.36 per cent service tax is imposed only on the “fee or commission charged by banks for facilitating remittances” and not on the actual remittance.

THIS IS THE LEAST WE CAN PAY BACK TO OUR COUNTRY…DONT WE GO AND USE THE ROADS THE WATER ETC IN INDIA WHEN WE GO FOR VACATION…..NEITHER DO WE HAVE TO PAY TAX HERE THEN Y SUCH A HUE AND CRY… FIRST OF ALL OFFICIALLY DONT KNOW IF ITS COME OUT ANYWHERE..
The government provides no service to the expatriates in foreign countries, in fact not even proper consular services and worst it does not even care and the hard earned money is already been charged 1% by the money exchanges and the banks charge inter-bank exchange rates with the foreign currency transaction commission. On that service tax. Is this what Modi said of Ache din.
