New Labor Regulations are Now Put into Practice

May 26, 201510 Comments

kuwait-tower-cityVarious work departments in Kuwait have put into practice the decision to restrict changes in information and profession details on work permits. It is applicable only after an employee has worked for at least 2 years for the same employer.

According to the source http://news.kuwaittimes.net/, Jamal Al-Doussary, the director of the Manpower Public Authority has confirmed the decision. Doussary also clarifies that the latest decision wherein the various organizations with at least 25 employees should get their own representatives is applicable with effect from May 11, 2015.

During a recent parliamentary session, MP Khalil Abul talked about improving the way expatriate workers are treated. The other key points of discussion included taking care of the fraud visa traders in Kuwait who promise foreign workers to offer a job for a fee, but end up with providing no jobs. Kuwait presents a broad range of career opportunities for expats hailing from Egypt, Asia (Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan), and several other Arab countries. The country has a population structure wherein about 30 percent of the population constitutes the nationals. As per the statistics, only 1.3 million are Kuwaitis, while expats constitute around 2.9 million people in the country.

Kuwait is one of the best countries to work in the Gulf and ranked higher in the Global Rights Index 2014 published by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). The Index is based on around 97 indicators, such as threats, physical violence, intimidation, and the guarantee of protection under the law.

The favorable labor regulations and healthy work conditions for Kuwaitis as well as expatriates can attract more job seekers in the country.
