Makhseed Takes a Dominant Win in Kuwait

story image - credits Mohamad ChehimeAli Makhseed took a dominant win in front of an energetic crowd at the 2015 Red Bull Car Park Drift in Kuwait. Makhseed driving a Toyota Supra showed a consistent level across all runs. His final run was near perfect ensuring a clean and tidy pass and making no contact with the cones. He came as near as possible with the clipping point (pendulum) which gave him an extremely high mark (367 points). Second place went to Faisal Al Shuwaie driving a BMW E30 with 356 points while Hamad Al Hajri rounded the podium scoring 324 points on his Nissan 350Z.

“It’s really great to win such a prestigious event like Red Bull Car Park Drift. I managed to overcome last year’s disappointment and also showed consistent and clean drifting which the spectators loved. I would like to congratulate the second and third place winners who also qualified to the Championship Finals. Now we have ample time to prepare for the finals in December in order to present Kuwait in the best possible way.” Said the winner Ali Makhseed.

Eleven of the best drifters made it to the Red Bull Car Park Drift Kuwait Final after a tough qualifying session. This event is organized by Basel Salem Al Sabah Motorsport Club and held in partnership with Ford Middle East, Pirelli, Shop & Ship and Road Emergency.

Drivers this year had the added challenge of touching the pendulum square to score extra points with a panel of judges scoring out of 400 points, 160 points for drifting skills, 40 for car sound and tire smoke and donuts in the box. Judges also kept a watchful eye on car design and proximity to the clipping point without hitting it, each accounting for 60 points. Legendary drifter Abdo Feghali who holds Guinness World Record for the longest vehicle drift said: “The level in Kuwait has improved a lot especially over the past two years. Today’s event was a chance for the drifters to compete in safe and professional environment. All the drifters showed a high and unique level which amused the audience.” credits Mohamad Chehime 1

2015 Red Bull Car Park Drift winner Ali Makhseed along with the second and third place winners qualified to the Championship Finals to compete along with winners from other countries from the Middle East and Africa in the State of Kuwait which will host the championship this upcoming December.
