Kuwait sent oxygen cylinders to India

The Kuwaiti Cabinet had decided during its weekly meeting on Monday to send oxygen supplies and relief items to India which is facing growing numbers of deaths and infections of the coronavirus. The move comes within the framework of the distinguished friendship ties between Kuwait and India that reflect solidarity with the friendly Indian people.

The Cabinet expressed its deep concern and regret about the deteriorating health situation in India due to the spread of the new mutated strain of the coronavirus, which resulted in growing deaths and infections due to lack of oxygen in hospitals.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s foreign minister pledged his country’s solidarity with India, as it faces record numbers of infections and deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic. Kuwait’s “leadership, government and people” stand by the “friendly nation of India” during these “difficult circumstances,” said Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, also State Minister for Cabinet Affairs.

In a phone call with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, he also extended his sincere condolences to the families of those deceased along with his heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured. He expressed “deep concern and regret” about the deteriorating situation in the country, due to the spread of the virus’ mutated strain amongst hundreds of thousands of people. Kuwait is keen to provide India with “all capabilities,” he added, including oxygen cylinders, ethanol and urgent relief. – AFP
