Sabah bin Rashrash Diwaniya in Rabya area organized a meeting titled “Rabya for Better” in the presence of well-known residents of the area to discuss the problem related to the spread of bachelors living in private residential areas in Rabya, reports Al-Anba daily.

Lawyer Fahd Al-Braikan said the issue is snowballing to the extent that a number of Kuwaiti families left the area to live in other areas due to the negative effects of the spread of bachelors in the area. Indicating that some families left Rabya and decided to rent their houses out to expatriate bachelors, he revealed that some of the owners of those houses occupy high-level jobs but they violate the law under the impression that the law does not apply to them.

Lawyer Al-Braikan revealed that they have fixed an appointment to meet the Director General of Kuwait Municipality on Sunday to tackle this issue. Furthermore, Scholar Faleh Bin Artiban Al-Ajmi said those who rent their houses out to bachelors in private residential areas do not take into consideration the rights of their neighbors, highlighting the negative impacts of their action on those living in the area. He revealed that a number of citizens lodged complaints due to the negative impacts they suffer from as a result of the renting of houses to bachelors.

In addition, Salem Al-Thufairi said the trend of bachelors shifting from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh to Rabya is very dangerous, revealing that one of the houses in the area has been rented out to bachelors, both male and female, of five different nationalities. He stressed that this not only violates the religious principles followed in the country but also imposes pressure on the services allocated for the residents of the area.

Al-Thufairi indicated that the issue also negatively affects the security aspect besides the social one, insisting that the increase in the number of bachelors in Rabya area has resulted in the spread of crimes such as liquor and drugs peddling, and auto theft. He lamented that women of certain nationalities walk on the streets wearing indecent clothes, showing no respect to the Kuwaiti traditions and the privacy of private residential areas. Al-Thufairi disclosed that some Kuwaiti traders own 20 houses within Rabya area which they rent out to bachelors while they live in other areas, due to which they do not suffer the consequences of their actions.
