Kuwait Central Jail caught Fire

A fire Thursday at Kuwait’s central jail killed an inmate and injured 56 other people including a fireman, the interior ministry said.

The ministry said on its website that the fire started at a unit for drug offenders and was put out by six firefighting centres.

Thirty inmates were being treated at the prison’s hospital, while the others injured were taken to other hospitals, the ministry said. The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
