Churches in Kuwait to keep low profile

At a time when churches in Kuwait and other parts of the world are preparing for Christmas, a suicide bomber identified as Abu Abdullah al-Masri recently detonated an explosive belt inside the Coptic Cathedral in Cairo, killing dozens of peaceful worshippers, reports Arab Times daily.

As fragments of the explosive reaches Kuwait, churches in the country have decided to keep a low profile celebration of Christmas this year in solidarity with victims of the Coptic Cathedral blast.

St Mark Coptic Cathedral in Kuwait will receive sympathizers and mourners at its headquarters in Hawalli Friday.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the National Evangelical Church of Kuwait (NECK) Reverend Emmanuel Benjamin Ghareeb noted the Evangelical Church is preparing for Christmas but festivities will not be extended in solidarity with victims of the painful event in Cairo Coptic Cathedral.

Reverend Ghareeb added the people in Kuwait enjoy religious freedom not experienced elsewhere in the region. He stressed those living in Kuwait know the volume of the freedom of religion and that all churches in Kuwait pray for peace in the region and the world over.

He also said the churches pray for HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince, and HH the Premier.
