A total of 40 individuals who are either involved in civil and criminal cases or in possession of drugs and liquor were arrested in the last 48 hours during security campaigns launched in all governorates by officers of Public Security Sector, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to security sources, the campaigns were launched based on instructions from Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. Security checkpoints were set up in all governorates during the campaigns, and officers arrested 40 individuals who were either wanted by law for their involvement in cases or were in possession of drugs and liquor.

They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The sources affirmed that such security campaigns will continue to be held in all parts of the country to arrest those who do not abide by the rules and regulations.

Meanwhile Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh securitymen arrested 21 hawkers who were selling vegetables and electronics illegally. This came after the securitymen received information about 10 Asians who visited an area opposite the Sixth Ring Road to purchase goods and then sell them. The officers rushed to the scene and this led to the arrest of the suspects who were referred to the concerned security department for legal measures.
